Shubneet kaur
I’m Shubneet Kaur, a poet, writer, artist and dietitian. Creativity has been part of my life since childhood. I found an early joy in putting thoughts on paper and expressing what I saw through painting. Over time, writing became a way to understand not only the world around me, but also the feelings that are sometimes difficult to say aloud.
My articles, poetry and artwork have appeared in Indian newspapers, including The Tribune and Hindustan Times. Each form of expression has taught me something different. Art asks me to look closely; writing asks me to listen closely. Both have helped me notice the meaning tucked into ordinary days.
As a dietitian, I care about how people live and feel in their everyday lives. As a poet, I return to the inner life the memories, hopes, questions and quiet changes we all carry. These interests may seem different, but they come from the same place: a desire to pay attention, understand and connect. Poetry is my first love because of what it can hold in so little space. A few lines can bring back a place, capture a fleeting emotion or offer someone the comforting thought that they are not alone. That is what I hope to share with you here.
I believe that life speaks to us in small moments. We notice a shift in the light, a flower opening, a familiar place changed by a new season. We remember a conversation or carry a feeling we cannot quite explain. If we pause long enough, those moments often have something to teach us.
Nature has always been close to my heart. Its changing seasons remind me that growth takes many forms and that even stillness can have meaning. The natural world often finds its way into my poems, alongside the emotions and experiences that make us human. I write to make room for reflection. I do not expect every reader to see exactly what I saw when I wrote a poem. The most rewarding part is discovering how the same words can meet different people at different points in their lives and become part of their own stories.
Celebrations
A book is a personal beginning, but the people who read it give the journey a life beyond its pages.
My debut poetry collection, Flight Feathers, grew from years of observing, feeling and writing. Its poems bring together nature and human emotion, giving shape to thoughts that often arrive quietly and stay with us. Seeing the collection published by Partridge Publishing was a meaningful milestone for me: the private act of writing had become something I could share.
The book’s launches offered a chance to celebrate that beginning with people who had supported the journey. But the moments I remember most clearly are the conversations that followed with readers who recognised a feeling in a poem, asked about the thought behind a line or shared an experience of their own. It has also been moving to see Flight Feathers reach readers beyond the places where it began. Every review, message and conversation is a reminder that once a poem leaves the writer’s hands, it can take on new meaning in someone else’s life.
I’m thankful to the readers, fellow writers, friends and family members who have encouraged me. Their support has made each milestone more meaningful. This space celebrates not only the occasions and achievements, but also the connections made along the way.
Discover
There is always more to a story than what reaches the page. A walk through an unfamiliar place, the colours of a landscape, a gathering with readers or a quiet afternoon with a notebook can all become part of the creative journey.
This gallery offers a glimpse of the places, people and experiences that inspire me. Some moments have found their way into poems; others simply remind me to stay curious and present. I hope they invite you to look around, linger for a while and discover something that speaks to you.
